Dear Friend, do you think about the rain. Often? Never?

I think of it nearly every day. I like it best when I’m at home when writing and when I need a bit of rejuvenation I’ll head out side with a small black umbrella and sandals and just exist.

Just exist.

Now raining often isn’t a bad thing, however it does limit one such phenomenon that comes with rain. Petrichor. The distinct smell of earth on dry soil and dirt after an absence of moisture.

My favorite rainy day activity is reading and/or writing. Both of which tend to happen in tandem.

You may notice the above image is that of a cloudy, yet sunny day. This is true, this is approximately thirty minutes after a twenty minute rain. It rained while I was in a store and I missed it. I did not however miss the puddles and gutter filled streets. I did not miss the irony of walking past a full car wash of people or the active sprinklers that blocked my post rain walk.

Today is a short one, but truly my friend; finding moments to just exist are key to ‘making it’. It’s the small happiness that keeps me going during my working weeks. I hope that my small happiness by form of this writing might bring you company and perhaps kinship. But perhaps in the end, you will be alright.
