Dear Friend. I have expressed my love of movies. Whether they be digital or physical copies I enjoy watching them in all forms. That include in the theater, where it truly counts. I make a point to go to the theater to support movies that I’m interested in. Not an amazing industry but I think the atmosphere is worth exploring, so lets dive into it.
See: Generally you are met by bright neons and movie posters. When I go to my local theater I rarely run into crowds or messes. Granted I go on the true opening night or weeknights that don’t have deals. Employees are dressed in reference to movies or in clean nice uniforms. One thing that I like about my local theater is the name tags. On them they have the cast members favorite movie. Mine from when I worked there was The Princess Bride.
Hear: Popcorn popping, drink machines, the idle sweeping across velveted floors, distant movie ads and the like playing on tv’s in the background.
Smell: Popcorn again mostly
Taste: Popcorn again, but candy and soda. I’ve always been partial to my theaters ‘kitchen’ but I’m always big on Sour Patch Kids and frozen Cookie Dough bites.
Touch: Velvet floors and reclining seats
Dear Friend, the experiences that I have at movie theaters shapes my week, month and years. The movies that I see there would not be half as impactful without the respectful yet eager audiences that I lovingly share my experience with. Dear Friend, you will be alright.
