Dear Friend, day 1 of 2 about me talking about shows. Today Invincible and tomorrow one based on video game, stay tuned for that.

I’m going to talk about my favorite things about the show. MINI SPOILERS AHEAD UP TO THE THIRD SEASON

First the title card. Adaptive and ever changing, giving hints as to what the season can hold, it isn’t until later that you are able to catch on to what its revealing. Sometimes its blood, sometimes its cracking and sometimes its warping. Whatever the case, once you catch on it can be a little warning for the content of the season.

Mark Grayson AKA Invincible voiced by Steven Yeun. A favorite actor of mine, known for The Walking Dead and Mickey 17 and Beef as well as being the original projected star for the Marvel hero Sentry. Mark Grayson is son of the superhero Omni-Man and the course of the show is directly shaped by his relationship with his father. My favorite part about Invincible is Mark navigating the hero’s dilemma. Who can he save, how does he balance his life, and a unique one to Invincible: how does he repent for the sins of his father?

Omni-Man voiced by J.K. Simmons. I LOVE J.K. SIMMONS. Whiplash, the yellow M&M, and his portrayal of JJJ in Spider-Man. What I love best about his character is his downfall and redemption arc. Specifically the first episode when the motives of his character is slightly revealed to the audience. It sets the tone for the show instantly. No one is safe.

Atom Eve voiced Gillian Jacobs, of Community fame. Atom Eve is a very important character, even having her own movie premiere before the second season of the show. I would argue she has the strongest power in the entire show. Yeah we have aliens that can survive just about anything, but what about being able to control molecular structures. Mind you it doesn’t affect humans, but it can, giving it the potential for Eve to be the strongest in the entire show. That coupled with her and Marks eventual relationship.

Other things that I like from the show in no particular order. Rex and his sex-capades until the end. Robot(Rex) and his desire to feel. Cecil and his desire to save everyone. Battle Beast! Invincible borrowing other comic book characters like Spawn. Allen the Alien.

Things that I gotta say that I don’t like. Mind you this is just my opinion, my own thoughts. The overuse of celebrity voice actors. Now there’s two different kind of voice actors. Voice actors that become celebrities: J.K. Simmons, Mae Whitman and the like; Then you have voice actors that are celebrities. There are good examples of great casted characters in this that i think benefit the series. Sterling K. Brown, Walton Goggins, Mahershala Ali. But then you have others that don’t make any sense and cost the studio sometimes millions for there cameos.

Amber and Oliver, I think they dampen the pacing, which I can see why. But I just don’t like their characters. Perhaps it wasn’t a great execution of the character or a poor adaptation but I’m not the biggest fan.

All in all. Great series, I’m excited to see where it goes from here and I’ve even started collecting the comics for it. Dear Friend, I think you should watch this show. I hope that everything is alright.
