Day 17. Highlighting: Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated

Dear Friend, day 4 of the show series. Today is my favorite of all the ones I will be covering this week. I’ve greatly loved doing this little segment and it’s brought me a lot of joy. That’s what I love about writing about what I’m passionate about. It gives me an excuse to talk about my favorite things and people to my favorite people.

Today Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. Now Dear Friend, you may be asking your self, what is different about this iteration of Mystery Incorporated. Well there are some key differences in this show from previous and future ones. First, the show is set with them in highschool, the first of the shows to do that (according to my research and above average knowledge of the franchise) This show also takes place in one relative local: the town of Crystal Cove. Other things include the worst version of the Hex-Girls (I’m malding over this). Now for the favorites

SPOILERS AHEAD

First the theme song. Linked below. Not as good as What’s New Scooby-Doo but a great addition to the themes.

Next up, the casting. The usual suspect appear for a Scooby franchise, Grey Griffin, Mindy Cohn, Frank Welker, the usual. But my favorite, my boy: Matthew Lillard. He could have his own page on this website (and likely will after his next movie). Also final shoutout to Linda Cardellini (The original live action Velma) and Patrick Warburton, both of which could have their own pages as well.

Next up is how they portray the characters. Velma is youngest child of a highly successful family. Shaggy and Scooby are their normal archetypes. Velma is a skeptic, daughter to local mysticism expert of the town. And Fred, sweet sweet Fred. I’m normally a Shaggy person but Holy Shit when I say this is the best Fred has ever been and will be. A favorite Youtuber of mine says it best

The Location. Crystal Cove is a hotspot for paranormal kookiness. For good reason, but this is just like the above, a pitch to watch the show.

The Monsters. The most important part of the show is the monsters. It’s an evil capitalist in mask, but with a sob story of how life is unfair with very few repeats. My personal favorite is this one

Dear Friend, I will not date my safe but I can surely say this show was an important part of my life. Please if anything give this a shot. Dear Friend, I hope everything is alright.
