Dear Friend, day 5 of talking about shows. Not going to age myself here again but this was also a major part of my childhood. The story, the world, the characters. Dear Friend let me talk about my favorite things about this show for you and you’ll see why you should watch it.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Let’s start off with the opening monologue. A true classic of American animation.
To quote Katara “Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.“
The characters and especially there designs: OMG Suki, Katara, Zuko, Sokka, Appa and Momo. These are just the immediate ones that you can view every episode, not including the Order of the White Lotus.
Let me just lay out some of my favorite designs

Secret societies. This show has one of the best overarching “were the good guys” model going. I love it.
The love interests/relationships. Mai and Zuko, Katara and Aang, Sokka and Yue and then eventually Suki. Great chemistry and dynamics between all of the above.
Little references in the show, Cabbage Man, There is no War in Ba-Sing-Se. That’s rough buddy, Sparky Sparky Boom Man, Iroh and his Tea.
BUT what sets this show apart from any others is that I can recall episodes very easily. The Tales of Ba-Sing-Se is easily the best and makes me emotional every time I watch it. King Bumi’s introduction, Sokka’s Sword, The Siege on the North Pole, Swole Iroh.
Dear Friend, this was one of the first shows I showed my partner and it has a lasting impression on me to this day. I truly think this show is worth it, all three seasons. I didn’t touch upon it now but maybe later I will. The story, the world building, the premise. It is so inspired and makes me so happy to see something like this impacting generations. Dear Friend, you will be alright.
