Dear Friend, what a terribly slow week it has been. I have essentially nothing to report on any fronts so I want to talk about an album that means a lot to me. I won’t specifically be going into details of the songs merely the circumstances for which.
I’m going to age myself a bit here but I was in a Spanish class when my teacher got on the topic of music. He was someone that I looked up to and he made mention very firmly that Blink-182’s Dude Ranch changed his life. I’m all for life changing experiences but I’m of the firm belief that time is important. Doing stuff for the times is integral. Therefore I went for the newest Blink-182 album. Dude Ranch was his newest so I did the same. This album changed my life. I had at this point an IPOD shuffle and had begun procuring songs. My taste at this point was heavy EDM. Zedd was my number one artist and Clarity was my main fixation. I mostly had one friend for music taste and we began to have different tastes.
So picture this, my IPOD shuffle lost by my mother rolling up to Walmart to purchase the CD of this album. I took a pair of drumsticks with me to school every day and would hide out behind the school and learn the Travis Barker parts. Let me just tell you this, impossible. The man is a legend. Regardless I listened to that album all year until I got a phone and could start listening to Spotify. That album got me through some dark-friendless times. Now I look back on it fondly.
Dear Friend, what was your first big album?
I hope all is well. You will be alright.
